Hello!
For several years, I lived in the Dallas, Texas area (most of the pictures
on this site were taken there). Home turf to me is Puyallup, Washington (just east
of Tacoma, and about 40 miles south of Seattle). After living in other parts of the
country for the last 11 years, I moved back home six years ago. My adult life has
been spent as a computer guy from a professional standpoint and a car-and-truck guy
from a hobby standpoint. I'm in the process of changing those around. Since getting
home, I completed yet another college degree, this time in Auto Mechanics, and have
earned an ASE Master Technician certification.
I know I've let this page slip some, and I'm in the process of getting things
updated. I've sold the F-250 (it was a manual, and after repeated knee injuries,
driving a clutch just hurts too much), and I've recently purchased another old
full-sized Bronco.
As a kid, I enjoyed building model cars and trucks. It was especially fun to take
parts from several different kits and put them together into one new vehicle.
That's kind of what I'm doing now with my project CJ. (Mom calls it "the big
model kit.") Guess that phrase about "the difference between men and boys is the size
and price of their toys" is pretty accurate.
I currently have two 4x4's (or, maybe saying one-and-a-half 4x4's is more accurate).
I'm now on my second Bronco, (check out the First Bronco
page to see what happened to the first one). I purchased the F-250 to replace that
first Bronco, and it served its purpose well, hauling some really heavy loads.
However, as I mentioned earlier, I can't really drive a clutch for any real length
of time anymore, and the pickup got pretty lousy mileage.
At the time of this writing, my CJ has parts from two different CJ-7's, a CJ-5, two
different Broncos, an F-100, an F-150, at least three F-250's, two different Mustangs,
a couple of Dodge trucks, a Firebird, a Buick, a few aftermarket pieces, and a few
that I have no idea what they're off of. And mind you, I don't even have a complete
interior, roof, or wheels yet.
That brings us to the last vehicle in my "stable". It's a 1996 Thunderbird that I
purchased brand-new. It's the one I use when I have to fit into a tight parking garage,
stay clean, or when I take someone female somewhere nice.
Sometimes my name throws people. When I first started playing on the InterNet, I
caught a lot of heat using my real name (old part of my life, now gone). Folks
around me were naming their projects, and the name of CJ-Ford was almost too obvious
for mine. Well, that kind of ended up being my 'net name. While I'll go by my initials
around here, they're not C.J. And no, my last name isn't Ford; it's something
Norwegian that, for some reason, only Texans seem to pronounce right.

What gearhead page would be complete without a tech section?
Here's a page that contains some of my ideas/ramblings on 4x4 building.
Some of this is strictly in the planning stages, so some of the ideas I put here
might seem to be really out there. However, I won't put anything in here that I'm
not sure can be done. The only guarantee is that I'm discussing things with four
wheels and an engine.
I'm at C_J_Ford@Hotmail.COM, or you can
Like most folks, I've got all sorts of pictures, stickers, and magnets on my fridge.
Click on any of 'em to follow the links.
